Privacy policy

Version of 17 September 2026

You send me photographs from a family archive. That is an act of trust, so here is a plain account of what happens to your files and your details.

1. Who processes your data

The data controller is the photo restorer working under the name Restored by Alex (“I”, “me”). The address for enquiries is given in section 10.

This policy covers everything you send through the order form on this site, and any correspondence that follows about your request.

2. What I receive

Only what you enter yourself when sending a request:

  • your email address — without it I have nowhere to send the quote;
  • a name or form of address — optional, the field may be left empty;
  • the description of the job, in your own words;
  • the photograph files you attach;
  • technical details of the request: date and time, file sizes and formats;
  • your IP address — used only to protect the form against automated submissions and not stored with the request.

3. About the photographs specifically

Old photographs almost always show people, often people who have died. I understand what that means and treat them accordingly.

Photographs are processed for one purpose only: to carry out your order — to assess the work, restore the image and show you the result. I do not use them to identify anyone, I do not pass them to third parties, and I do not upload them to outside automated processing services.

I may publish your order among the examples on this site or on social media only with your separate, explicit permission, which I will ask for directly. Silence is not permission.

4. Why I need it

I do not send marketing mailings and do not use your address for them.

  • to assess the price and timescale and send you a reply;
  • to carry out the work and deliver the finished file;
  • to correspond with you about the job and make revisions;
  • to keep my own record of completed orders.

5. On what legal basis

The basis is your consent, given by ticking the box before the form is sent. Without that tick the form will not submit.

Processing is carried out in accordance with Russian Federal Law No. 152-FZ of 27 July 2006 “On Personal Data”.

6. How long I keep it

  • if you upload files but never send the form, they are deleted within two days;
  • if you never reply to my quote, the files and correspondence are deleted after 90 days;
  • if the work was carried out, the source files and the result are kept for 12 months so that you can come back for another copy, and deleted afterwards;
  • at your request I delete everything sooner, at any time.

7. Who else sees it

I do not sell, rent out or hand your data to third parties for purposes of their own.

Technically the data passes through the service providers without which the site and its email could not run: Cloudflare — site hosting and protection of the form against automated submissions; Hetzner — the cloud storage where uploaded files are kept; Google (Gmail) — the mailbox I correspond from. They act on my instructions and may not use your data for anything else.

8. How I protect it

  • the site runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection;
  • uploaded files sit in storage closed to public access: they can only be opened under my own account;
  • nobody but me has access to requests;
  • the form is protected against automated submissions.

9. Your rights

At any time you may:

  • ask what data of yours I hold;
  • require inaccurate data to be corrected;
  • require your data and the files you sent to be deleted;
  • withdraw your consent to processing.

10. How to reach me

For any question about this policy, or to have your data deleted or your consent withdrawn, send me an email. I reply within 30 days, and to deletion requests usually the same or the next working day.

11. Changes to this policy

If the rules change I will publish the new version on this page and update the date at the top. Changes are not applied retroactively: the version in force when you sent your request is the one that governs it.
